Diane was born and raised in the Grand Rapids area. She received her BA and teacher certification from Grand Valley State University. Diane began her graduate studies at Michigan State University, and completed her MS degree in Education at Southwest Baptist University. Having taught in both Michigan and Missouri, her seventeen years of experience include teaching grades 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7 with a majority of those years in the public schools. She followed her calling to teach at St. Thomas Aquinas as a Catholic educator in 2015, with her mission being to permeate her Catholic faith through her instruction and interaction with students, families and staff.
Diane has been married to her husband, Dana, for 24 years. They have four children. Claudia in college and Noel, Owen and Allison are students at Lansing Catholic High School. All four of her children attended St. Thomas Aquinas Parish School. The Spences live in East Lansing and are members of St. Thomas Aquinas Parish. They enjoy sporting events, travel, and anything else they can do as a family.
